Unique Gift Wrap Idea – Cutout Hearts Become Tree Leaves

When you are looking for something really different, this one-of-a-kind gift wrap idea might be perfect. It’s ideal for the winter holiday season, but also a great all-occasion gift wrap idea as well. This one takes some time, but you can easily find everything at your local craft stores or craft closet if you are like me. It’s the holiday season and in that pile of presents under the christmas tree, this is the best gift!
Mine is wrapped with plain brown kraft paper to give it a rustic look. Then I cut out heart shapes using a Cricut paper cutter. I started with a 2 ½” heart, then a 2” heart, a 1 ½” heart and finally a 1” heart. I cut multiples of each size out of green card stock.
Before I started placing and gluing the hearts, I drew the branch with a green marker as shown. Then I simply folded the hearts in half and glued them along the branch, with one side bent up a bit.
For the last touch, I cut circles out of both white and green card stock and glued them randomly along the branch, to resemble berries. Simple and unique. Like a giant evergreen sprig.
I wrapped mine as a gift for the holiday season, so it has a rustic wintry look. But if you wanted to wrap this up for Valentine’s Day, you could use a glitter paper and hearts cut out of various shades of pink card stock. It would look gorgeous to start with the bright pink hearts at the top, that get lighter as you work down the branch, creating an ombre effect. Or just wrap
This gift wrap idea is simple but takes a bit of extra time, so save this one for that one perfect gift.
