Trio of Wintry Gift Wrap Ideas
With the holiday season approaching and temperatures dropping, I couldn’t help but think of all the things the season brings. A trip to a tree farm. Trimming a christmas tree. Shopping and baking. A white christmas if you are lucky. And of course my favorite activity. Wrapping gifts.
When my daughter moved away, she left behind a drawer full of yarn poms just begging to be used. So, I was looking for a fun way to use them and came up with this trio of gifts all adorned with yarn pom pom gift toppers.
Each is wrapped in a different christmas wrapping paper, but they create a lovely color palette together. And there is a theme of sorts. Leaves and berries crafted to resemble natural elements. Whether special gifts for christmas morning or a beautifully wrapped gift for a christmas party this idea is sure to bring some holiday style.
Supplies Needed For Trio of Wintry Gift Wrap Ideas
- Gift wrapping paper or butcher paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Hot glue gun
- Colorful ribbon
- Yarn
- Pom Pom maker
- Card Stock or Kraft Paper
Gift Wrap Instructions
For the leaves I made a stencil out of a piece of a file folder (you could also make a stencil from a heavy brown paper bag). I folded it in half so that both sides would be even, then drew the leaf shape on the folded half and cut it out. The leaves could also serve as the gift tag on your Christmas presents.
The first package is wrapped in a fun minty green and white dot wrapping paper and tied with a simple narrow white ribbon. Then I hot glued three white poms to the center section of the package. I cut three leaf shapes out of green card stock using my stencil and tucked one edge of the leaf under the poms and glued each in place.
I wrapped the smallest one in a simple red and white stripe and added a single red yarn pom and a single green leaf. You could add a colorful velvet ribbon too if you like but I think it looks great without.
The last package is wrapped in a shiny pink foil wrapping paper. I added a simple pale pink ribbon and three pale pink poms glued to the center. I completed the look adding three white leaves tucked into the poms as shown and glued in place.
