It’s that time of year again. Store windows are full of red and pink, special treats and fun items for your Valentine’s Day Party. And nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day like RED HEART CANDY! These candy skewers are the perfect way to add that special touch, and they are so easy that even those little hands can help put them together. These are great and a nice break from the typical favor bags filled with squishy toys, cute stickers and chocolate hearts. So let’s bring the fun!
DIY this candy party favor idea for your next Valentine’s Day party. For the Cupids Arrow Candy Skewers, I used a bunch of bamboo skewers and lots of sweet and sour gummy candies.
To begin I cut the spear end of the arrows out of red card stock and set them aside. I cut two triangle shapes for each one so that I could glue them together sandwich-style to the sharp end of the spear. Then I fashioned the feather end of the arrow from red crepe paper. I used a 3-inch piece, cut one edge to resemble fringe, then rolled it around the blunt end of the skewer end and glued it in place.
Before I glued the spear end pieces to the other end of the skewer, I added about six pieces of gummy candy to the sharp end of the bamboo skewers. Swedish fish, Strawberry gummy little hearts, Sour gummy lips, gummy dots, heart shape or not – whatever your fancy! Then I hot glued the arrow pieces, sandwich style, to the end of the skewer to finish it off.
For the gift tag, I simply cut a circle out of card stock and embellished it with a cute little heart rubber stamp and ink. Then I cut a hole with a hole punch in the top and threaded it with some red embroidery floss and tied it to the skewer.
Shampoo, Rinse, Repeat.
Make as many as you like. Add a gift tag like I did – or don’t! These are great for kids of all ages! A cute idea for that cute kid and the perfect Valentines Day sweet treat.
