Gift wrap instructions

For a baby shower gift wrapping idea that is simple but adorable, this fits the bill. This is not your traditional gift wrap. No frilly wrapping paper, no cuddly toy attached.  This gift box is wrapped in plain brown kraft wrapping paper and embellished with touches of pink for our baby girl. But it could be blue for baby boys.  Or yellow for a gender neutral baby gift.

I started with a length of pink twine and added pink washi tape flags – at about every 2 inches. The flags are just strips of washi tape folded in half over the twine.  I also made a pink tassel out of pink embroidery floss and tied that to the length of twine. Then I glued the twine to the package as shown. And I used regular craft glue, as I found it worked better than hot glue for the bakers twine.  Then I glued some cute buttons on and a tag I found, but you can add anything you like.

Lastly, as an added flourish, I made a newborn “sock cupcake” and glued it to the corner. A little extra gift on top of the package. I used a pair of baby socks, folded them in half lengthwise, and rolled them up. Then I tied a ribbon around them, to keep them rolled up. I glued a small white pom pom to the top as well, to more resemble a cupcake. Then I glued the “sock cupcake” to the bottom of a mini cupcake liner and glued the liner to the corner of the package – all using hot glue.

This cute gift would be suitable for a large gift like a diaper bag, small gifts like a baby blanket or baby clothes, or anything in between.

This really is brown paper packages tied up with string. And the perfect baby gift wrap idea.  You could use different colors and any simple embellishments. This is a cute way to use up any colorful ribbons, buttons, stickers or anything else you have on hand or can easily find at your local craft store. Anything to give it a personal touch and celebrate a new life and the new parents. All adorable ideas for your next baby shower.
