Gifting with Washi Tape Instructions

Washi tape is so versatile, so easy to use, and such a fun way to add a special touch. Here are three unexpected ways to use this craft staple to take your gift-wrapping game up a notch. From tags to cards to garlands. This great little accessory can be used in infinite ways to dress up a package, gift tag, or greeting card and is only limited by your imagination. It really is the superhero of the craft world and is suitable for any occasion from birthdays to holidays.

Popsicle Gift Tag

I used a simple popsicle-shaped template that I made out of a folder to cut two popsicle shapes out of white card stock. One will be the front and one the back of the tag. After digging through my craft supplies I found three washi tape designs that I thought coordinated well and taped the strips to the popsicle shape, trimming as necessary. The second shape I used to stamp the greeting. Viola. A cute gift tag perfect for a summer birthday or pool party!

Birthday Cake Greeting Card

This Birthday greeting card started with a simple blank white folded card. Using my Cricut machine I cut the shape of a cake stand out of black card stock and glued it to the center bottom of the card. I decided on four layers for my cake and chose two different patterns that I thought would work together, then added them layer cake style, each tape strip a little shorter than the one below. I added a candle to the top of the cake – also a strip of washi tape and used a yellow marker to add the flame.

Washi Tape Garland

Washi tape garlands are the easiest way to add that little extra something to your gift wrap presentation.  Just grab some designs you like and go to town. I decided on a black and pink color scheme for this package. I cut 3-inch strips and folded them over a pink length of baker’s twine at random intervals. Then I cut the ends to resemble a flag.  Then hot glue to your wrapped package. That’s it. And this easy DIY adds so much flair.

Washi tape gift wrap is a simple fun way to take your gift wrap game to a whole new level. There are so many different ways to use it and so many different washi tape designs. So Happy Wrapping!
